  • Gentle Birth Heals Mother Earth | A Conversation with Robin Lim
Free Talk hosted by Daia Brunetto @wisewildwomen
Friday, 3 April 11h/11am UK time

Meet Ibu Robin Lim — a true guardian of birth and human rights. A Filipina-Micronesian-American midwife, grandmother, author, and founder of the non-profit Bumi Sehat Foundation, Ibu Robin has spent more than three decades transforming maternal healthcare in Indonesia and beyond.

Through Bumi Sehat, she and her team provide free prenatal, birth, and postnatal care to families who might otherwise have none — supporting thousands of mothers and babies, training midwives and traditional birth attendants, and responding to humanitarian crises in disaster zones with skill, courage and compassion.

A fierce advocate for dignity in childbirth and a leading voice in women’s reproductive rights, Ibu Robin champions gentle birth, cultural respect, and community-based care as fundamental human rights. Awarded CNN Hero of the Year (2011) and named an Ashoka Fellow, her work continues to inspire global shifts in how we understand maternity care — always rooted in her core belief that peace begins at birth.

We feel deeply honoured to welcome Ibu Robin to OURBIRTHJOURNEY for a live conversation exploring her life’s mission and the philosophy that guides Bumi Sehat. Together, we will reflect on the values that underpin her model of care, the realities of providing maternity services in crisis situations, and what becomes possible when birth is held in reverence rather than routine.

This is an invitation to re-imagine modern birth culture — and to consider what changes when the miracle of birth is met with human presence, skilled hands, and unwavering love for mothers and babies.

  • Birth opens a woman.
Who helps her close?

She crossed the portal of birth —
who gathers her back together?

La Cerrada — Closing the Bones is the ceremony every mother deserves, yet so few receive.

After giving everything, she is finally invited to receive.

Time dissolves.
She rests.
She is held.
She is nourished.

Warmth seeps into her skin and bones, dispelling the cold that birth can leave behind.
Her nervous system softens.
Her body is wrapped and gently drawn back into itself.
Her bones are gathered.

She is fed — physically and spiritually.
Her story is witnessed.
Her initiation into motherhood is honoured.

Her body is tended like a sacred temple.
She is revered for the immensity of what she has done.

This is not a luxury.
It is a woman’s basic need in postpartum.

REST.
WARMTH.
NOURISHMENT.
SUPPORT.
ATTUNED CARE.

This is my gift to every mother.

On May 9th & 10th, I will be teaching this sacred ritual — passing the baton so more women can carry it into their communities, so more mothers can receive the power of being truly held.

Limited spaces.
Payment plans available.

If you feel the call, message me for more information or book your place through the link in my bio.

  • The Sweating Phase – An Essential Step in La Cerrada Ceremony

After the herbal bath, the woman is tenderly wrapped in warm blankets, with only her nose left uncovered. This gentle cocooning allows her body to heat gradually and begin a natural, therapeutic sweat.

This sacred time of warmth and rest invites her to soften and surrender. The heat penetrates deeply, encouraging circulation and assisting the body in regulating blood volume while releasing any residual waste that may have accumulated during pregnancy and birth.

Wrapped and held beneath the blankets, she experiences a profound sense of containment and safety. The enclosure offers more than physical warmth — it creates space for introspection, emotional release, and inner integration. In this stillness, she is supported not only in her physical recovery, but also in her return to herself.

  • I’m so excited to be bringing La Cerrada to Scotland this May 🤍

This sacred and ancient postpartum rite of passage was created to honour and nurture a mother after birth — whether weeks, years, or even decades later. Its power does not fade with time.

Over two immersive days in the Highlands, I will be guiding you not only to learn this ceremony, but to experience it, embody it, and develop the confidence and skills to offer it with sensitivity, reverence and integrity.

This intimate, heart-led training is for birth workers, doulas, therapists, and any woman who feels called to walk beside mothers in their healing.

In Inverness
9–10 May 2026
£395 | Early Bird £370 until 21st March
Lunch and refreshments included on both days
✨ Limited spaces available

If you feel the call, I would love to welcome you.

  • The first thing I want you to know about me is that I deeply care about •HOW• you give birth—about how babies are welcomed into this world.

Yes, safety matters. A healthy mother and baby matter. But my care goes beyond outcomes alone. I am not here to support home birth at any cost.

I honor sovereignty, autonomy, self-knowledge, and self-responsibility. I also recognise that there are moments when skilled, compassionate assistance is essential for some beings to cross the birth threshold safely.

From a visceral, primal, and soul-deep knowing—and from lived experience—I understand that our arrival into the world leaves an imprint on our biography at a cellular level. How we are born matters.

That is why I am devoted to offering a space of •TRUST •RESPECT•and• REVERENCE for every woman, every family, and every baby who chooses me to walk alongside them on this journey.

  • This year I’ve not put much effort into this corner of my business.. you’ve probably saw more of my travels than birth content and if I’m honest that’s ok because..

…in 8 months I did over 200 appointments..

Worked with people in their eighties and with babies less than a week old

Held some incredible women through the portal of birth and death

Shared skills and learned so much from so many I came into contact with

Spent 4 months of this year abroad, traveled in 5 different countries and set foot in 3 different continents..

A challenging and enriching year!

Feeling so grateful and ready for the opportunity to do and share more what I love in 2026.
